Being part of PolyTrak has been educating, fun and exciting. Working with great people to make information available to those interested and devoted to the Maine Coon Polydactyls.Our first newsletter was published and if you would like to subscribe to it please click here and just go the main page and click on the Newsletter button on the left.  That will take you to the regular "add" or "remove" page for subscriptions. Also there is an archive so our all newsletters will be available. We are working hard to create information and some fun. Hope you enjoy the newsletter!!

Things we can do to help get the Maine Coon Poly recognized as part of the Maine Coon breed in TICA
 
  • Enter your Poly litters including non poly offspring into the Polytrak.net data base. 

			

			
  • Use Q-tip swabs cut in half swirl in mouths of kittens and there parents including 
  • the non-poly littermates and parent and submit them to Dr. Lyons at UC Davis  put 
  • the swab in an envelope and label along with the parent and offspring info you can include your 
  • kitten numbers that correspond with the cats for detailed litter information to the lab. It is easy 
  • and costs only postage and a little time to do! Lyons Den  Submission Form

  • Become a Member - So you can vote TICA   (you do need to register a cattery or cat to be a member.)
  • Register Cattery with TICA 
  • Register your Cats especially Polys - to show the number of Polys registered in TICA please remember to put a P or PP in there name.
  • Show Polys in TICA New Traits - which do not get points just rosettes but will help Poly exposure and increase our chances of Polys 
    being accepted into the Maine Coon breed standards.
  • Educate Maine Coon breeders, and TICA members so when voted on we get more votes.
  • TICA issues registration papers for Polys besure and put the P or PP in the name of the cat as it will be easier to designate Polys. 
    
  • Join the Maine Coon Polydactyl International (link below) http://www.mcpi.org
    
  • Post pictures of Maine Coon Polys on your webpage’s and any photo list you belong to. 
    
  • Add http://www.mcpi.org to your email tag lines.
    
  • Put the MCPI logo on your web page and link it to http://www.mcpi.org (logos lacated in the MCPI file)
    
  • Show your Polys at shows TICA new traits and HHP in other organizations.
    
  • Before you go to shows make up some of the fact flyers to hand out, located in the MCPI database. 
    
  • When showing a small foot Maine Coon if it has Poly heritage let people know.
    
  • Educate Judges, Members of Registries, the General Public, prospective cat owners, and other Maine Coon breeders hand out
     some of the informational sheets located in the MCPI data base.
    
  • Take DNA samples of Poly litters and send them into Dr. Lyons for the Poly study. 
    
  • Put your Poly litter information into the PolyTrak data base, http://www.polytrak.net .This will help when the application is filled out 
    and documents are submitted to TICA. 
    
  • Talk about Polys on Maine Coon cat lists/groups so people know this is not a fad or it isn't something that is brought up every 6 Months.
